Antique Bronze Tray Stand
Ok this is a very unique item. This is a large Bronze Pedestal with matching heavy Porcelain Tray. The logo on the tray is a crown with the initials WL 1895. This indicates it was made by Wong Lee in the mid 1990's. It is however a stunning exquisitely made large and very heavy piece. Most of Wong Lee pieces are much smaller in size. The base is bronze and has 3 embedded porcelain faces on each side. I cannot confirm this base and tray are a set. However, the tray fits perfectly. The base is about 3-1/2' tall. The quality of the casting is exceptional. The part that holds the tray has a slight bend but the tray sits well and you do not see the bend while the tray is in place. So.... I do not know much about the stand itself but considering the quality unique design and weight it may be much older than the tray itself. I have been unable to find another like it.
This piece was acquired from a gold coast mansion in Oyster Bay Long Island New York as part of a collection I am offering over the next few months. This one could be the sleeper as it is beautiful and unique. It would be a fabulous piece for a fine traditional setting.
As for price I simply put $12,000 just as a place holder. Is it worth that much? Well that is up to you the buyer. I will gladly listen to offers. Come see it first so you can appreciate this special piece.
Despite Wong Lee being Chinese this piece has a European vibe. Who knows...
