Persian Wool Rug Circa 1940s-1950s 10' 8" X 13' 9" - $700

This is an Iranian, Sarouk type area rug. It has a wool pile and cotton warp. The design has a red background and arranged throughout the main field are detached floral bouquets in typical Sarouk style in colors of cream, blues and tans. The main border has a dark blue background with floral elements in pinks, blues, dark reds and browns. Two guard borders on each side of the main border with floral meanders repeating the colors in the rug in general. There are additional small borders: one on the inside of all boarders, and furthest outside near the edge of the rug consisting of alternating cream and blue conical shapes. There is some wear in small areas of the pile. Woven with 150 knots/square inch. The carpet measures 10'8" by 13'9" and has been appraised at $3,000 by Kavaljian Appraisal Services.
