If you did any woodworking projects in the past, you may remember a company called The Bartley Collection. They made very high quality, solid-wood furniture kits for makers who enjoyed woodworking but did not have the equipment needed for building fine furniture from scratch. Kits include all parts cut to size. You have to finish the details like dovetails with a chisel, do the assembly, and then sand and finish the piece. Finishing materials not included.
This could be a great summer project for a high school student or for a parent and younger child. (Or for an adult who needs a table or jewelery box, or a lovely hand-made gift.)
