Rare parquet flooring: Brazilian hardwood - 750sf; unused - excellent condition

$1,275
Phillipsburg, NJ

For sale is 750 square feet of rare sucupira solid wood parquet flooring - for your discriminating client, and especially exquisite for an old house restoration. Sucupira is a Brazilian hardwood and not commonly found unless you venture out to a distributor that specializes in exotic wood (no, it is not on the CITES list - so no worry about it being an endangered species). Although it is called a Brazilian chestnut, it is not in the chestnut family. :-) It is denser and more durable and has attributes similar to teak. It has exceptional hardness, durability and naturally resistant to decay or moisture. It has incredible graining - with each piece being quite unique. Its natural color is a rich brown. What you see in the first photo is its natural look - before any finish or staining is applied.

I have 750 square feet of parquet panels. Each tongue and groove panel is 3" wide by 12" long - by 3/8" thick. These are raw, solid wood; no veneering - currently, without a finish. These have never been used. They have been stored in a dry basement since I purchased it and as best as I can see, there is no cupping or warping. Even the loose pieces (that have been just loose since I bought them) show no sign of warping.

The first two photos are after just wiping it with a damp towel to show you what to expect when a finish is applied.

Now for the amazing story behind this wood. If your client (or yourself) appreciates one-of-a-kind material for their home: read on! I purchased this wood when I was living in Far Hills, from a contractor that was just finishing up a foyer project for John DeLorean (yes, THE automaker) and he had this extra wood left over. This is now Donald Trump's Bedminster home. No, I don't know if the flooring is still there - but it has pretty cool provenance. :-)

I am selling the entire lot - only - of 750 sf for $1275 - that's less than $2 per sf. There are 30 bundles with 25 panels per bundle. Each bundle, I am guessing, weighs about 25 to 30 pounds. The entire lot, stacked, is 5'x2'x2'7" high. Pick up is in Phillipsburg, NJ. It is about 1000 pounds so be sure your vehicle can handle the weight. I will not be able to assist in putting the bundles into your truck.
