Iolite has not gained a lot of popularity and yet it is a beautiful gemstone. The color can be a cross between an amethyst and tanzanite. I've had people mistake this for a tanzanite. Prong-set is a 6x9 pear shape genuine iolite that weighs approx. 1cttw. It measures 1", weighs approx. 1.9 grams. The bale can accommodate a large chain. Any dark areas are just shadows or reflections; clean and very sparkly.
